Technique Lab Privacy Policy
Last updated 30 October 2026
Summary
Technique Lab does not collect, store or share any of your personal data. There is no account and no sign-in, and the app has no servers of its own.
- Your videos and the analysis of them stay on your iPhone or iPad.
- Video goes to another device only when you connect one yourself, such as your GoPro or a second iPhone or iPad used as an extra camera.
- The app has no advertising, analytics or tracking, and does not share data with anyone.
- Purchases and subscriptions are handled by Apple. The developer never sees your payment details.
What the app uses on your device, and why
The app asks for each of these only for the feature that needs it. You can turn any of them off in iOS Settings at any time.
| Access | What it is used for | Leaves your device? |
|---|---|---|
| Camera | Recording your intervals | No |
| Microphone | Recording sound with each video | No |
| Photo library | Saving your clips to a "Technique Lab" album | No |
| Motion sensor | Reading the phone's tilt as a round starts, to measure treadmill incline | No |
| Bluetooth | Finding and connecting to your GoPro | Only to your GoPro |
| Local network | Showing a live view from your GoPro, or from a second iPhone or iPad you set up as a camera | Only to the devices you connect |
If you connect your GoPro to your home Wi-Fi, the network name and password you type are sent over Bluetooth to the GoPro only. The app does not keep them.
Video analysis (cadence, incline and belt speed) runs entirely on your device, using Apple's built-in body-pose detection. Your video is never uploaded for analysis.
The app does not use your location, contacts, health data or any advertising identifier.
What we collect
Nothing. The app does not send any information to the developer or to anyone else: no videos, results, usage statistics, crash reports or device identifiers.
The app contains no third-party analytics, advertising or tracking software. It does not track you across other companies' apps or websites.
If you choose to share crash reports or usage data with app developers in iOS Settings, Apple may pass anonymous crash reports on to the developer. That is governed by Apple's privacy policy and your iOS settings, not by this app.
Purchases and subscriptions
Technique Lab Pro is sold through the App Store as a monthly or yearly subscription, or as a one-time lifetime purchase. Apple processes every payment under Apple's privacy policy.
The app asks Apple only whether you have Pro on this Apple ID. It does not receive your name, email, Apple ID or payment details.
The developer can see the sales and subscription reports Apple gives all developers in App Store Connect. These are totals and do not identify you.
Data on your device, and deleting it
Everything the app keeps is on your device, under your control.
- Saved videos are in your photo library, in the "Technique Lab" album. Delete them in the Photos app like any other video.
- Clips waiting for analysis are kept inside the app until each one has been analysed and saved to your photo library. They are then deleted from the app automatically. Deleting the app removes any that remain.
- Settings such as whether speed is shown in km/h or mph stay inside the app and are removed when you delete it.
The developer holds no copy of any of this, so there is nothing to request or delete from the developer.
Children
The app is not directed at children under 13, and it collects no personal information from anyone, children included.
Changes to this policy
If the app ever starts collecting or sharing data, this policy will be updated before that version is released, and the date at the top will change.
